Our Valentines – Photo Lollipop Cards

We went back and forth a lot–there were so many cute ideas for Valentines my daughter could give to her classmates.  I knew that my schedule was packed and I needed to keep it simple.  We finally decided on making photo cards with organic lollipops that I think gave us a lot of impact for the short amount of time it takes to make them.

My daughter was also able to practice writing the names of each of her classmates on the pictures of the candy hearts I added to the image.

Directions:

1. Take a photo with your child’s fist outstretched, as if handing you a lollipop.

2. Add any Valentine’s embellishments.  We added stock candy heart images.

3. Use an X-ACTO knife to cut at the top of the fist and the bottom.

4. Insert a lollypop.

5. Glue to cardstock, if desired.

As much as I would love to take credit for this adorable idea, I got it from 24-7-365.

Are there educational connections to making and sending Valentine’s? Of course!

Preschoolers can practice writing their own names and writing or tracing classmates’ names if they are ready. You can also discuss sending mail, even if the Valentines won’t really go in the mail.

More Valentine’s Day educational connections, including social and historical ideas for school-aged children and teenagers may be found on my Beaded Heart Ornaments post.

I love how you used the candy hearts for personalization. I saw this idea, too, on another blog and think I may try to make some next year!

  2. This whole idea of making photo cards with organic lollipops is absolutely great! And I’m looking forward to participate in the contest. Directions to make it seems perfect and yes, I bet to bring more than 10 of my best friends to this post.

Adorable! I make mine every year using the Walmart cut apart designs. It’s very frugal at three valentines per 4×8 photo! This year I made a tutorial at:
